Good therapy is based on a healing relationship that's grounded in honesty, being accepted, and feeling understood. Relationships like this help release the healing, growing potential we all possess. I also believe that positive outcomes in therapy are supported by recognizing that we are all unique. I will work with you to create a therapeutic experience that fits with the needs and life experiences of you and your child. I will want to hear from you about how you and your child's experience is working, and how you may want it to be different.
Play therapy is a way of helping kids heal and continue growing through play and activity. I help kids experience understanding, safety, and acceptance as they express themselves and their world through play. Kids learn to feel self-confident, limit problem behaviors, and grow into being themselves. Play therapy is most often used with children ages 3 to 10.
Activity therapy makes use of drawing, painting, clay, games, and sandtray as a way of expressing and working with a person's experience. Through creative activities, kids resolve difficult feelings, make sense of experiences, and become more able to care for themselves and others. Activity therapy is most often used with tweens and teens.

I provide encouraging support for parents and other caretakers. We will meet regularly to review your child's progress both in and out of sessions. We'll talk about how to support your child in play/activity therapy and how to respond to the challenges of parenting.
